Cooler 1 Continues

As a divergence from Cooler 1... Aren't these trees lovely!! They are the gifts that keep on giving. My daughter gave me a lemon tree and a lime tree for my birthday one year. The fruit they produce is so nice especially during a winter storm like the one we had today in Southwestern Ontario. Lemons and limes make me think of summertime! The lemon is so big it almost looks like a grapefruit.


Check out the delicious Cooler 1 foods I've packed in my cooler for myself. Tons of hard boiled eggs, chicken, brown rice, veggies, fruit, Ezekiel cereal, Salba, rice milk and lots of H2O of course!!


Last but not least...my gym shoes! The only thing that keeps me sane is a good workout each day. Now that I'm training for my sprint distance triathlon I am logging lots of hours on the treadmill. My shoes are taking a beating!

Tosca, I love the pictures and all the information on what goes in Cooler 1. Maybe you have posted this before, and I missed it but can we get a picture of your cooler? Just curious on the size you are going with to tote all the food.

OK I'm confused - Your Cooler 1 doesn't sound like the same Cooler 1 from the book????

Hi Tosca! My name is Gail Soifer. I dont know that you will remember me, but I met you at the Arnold this past year. (you were so kind to introduce me to Paul Buceta) I am so happy you are going to compete in a sprint tri. My boyfriend and I are avid triathlon and duathlon competitors. My biggest advice is train for the transitions! It might sound silly, but going from bike to foot needs practice. Also, the time you take to change from each leg of the race can make or break your time. Best of luck and I can't wait to see you in Columbus again in 2010!!!

When I lived in Mexico circa 1965, the family I stayed with had a lemon tree (albeit much larger than the potted kind)

Every morning I had lemon tea brewed from the leaves of the tree. It is delicious and does not really taste like lemon - almost like a custard taste - very yummy.

Since then I have tried the potted type (same taste of course) but killed the tiny tree by stripping off too many leaves.

I'm surprised that you would consider cooler 1 if you are training for a Tri. Aren't you expending a whole lot more energy requiring more carbs?

When I ran a marathon, the last thing I could even think about was limiting food.
