Hot Hot Heat

It's a scorcher here in Ontario today. Wow! Bring on the heat wave.

I'm actually tucked away inside in my office today trying to stay cool while I work on lots of different projects. Check out the pic to the left. These are some photos for an upcoming project, but I can't tell you what it is yet!

I chose to do my run nice and early this morning to avoid overheating. I've been doing a morning run, a late evening run, or hitting the treadmill so I don't get sick.I'll be drinking lots of water, too. How do you stay cool during these hot summer days?

There is only 1 week until school starts here in Ontario. My one daughter is preparing to head back to university after a stint at home all summer. Everywhere I look there is a mess of giant containers holding her clothes, shoes, books, etc. She is my pack-rat child who can't part with anything!

Okay, back to work I go. Stay cool if you're affected by the heat wave, otherwise, enjoy your last few days of summer.

Fall is Coming

Yesterday uber talented photographer Paul Buceta, make-up artist phenom Valeria Nova and my team joined me on location for a promotional photo shoot. As usual the day was hectic and busy but full of laughs. Our team always manages to find a good time. One of the funniest lines was when my editor shared with me a story of how one of her sons at age 3 used to ask her to get married. To her little one this meant dancing around in the kitchen and then smelling each other’s feet. We roared over this one. And hey! When you think about it, not so far from reality, right?

There was a chill in the air and clouds in the sky; the feeling of fall was all around. Fortunately, clouds are great for pictures so we managed to snap some amazing images. Not to mention our stylist Rachel Matthews-Burton had some great fall looks including the new J-Brand skinny cargo that immediately put us in the fall spirit - or “sweater weather” as my daughter likes to call it. Topped with a simple neutral colored tee, the look was “hawt!” We were all hankering to put our boots on! Here are some pictures from the day.

Looks like fall is here! Get ready for the season by setting new health goals. Need motivation? Sign up for Premiere Fitness’s first Women Rock event [link: http://www.premiermedspa.com/womenrock/]. Activities include rock climbing, exploring and a spa package. I’ll be planning and hosting a clean dinner! Weekend Weddings

This past weekend my husband and I traveled to Kitchener, Ontario for the wedding of my cousin's son.

The wedding day itself was rainy, but we made the most of the experience catching up with family I haven't seen in years. What a special treat to reconnect with Dutch family members. I heard tons of stories about my mother and father and their first experiences in Canada. We ended up staying out until 1 in the morning chatting away and catching up.

Robert & I decided to make a weekend of it by staying at the beautiful Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario. What a gorgeous little country retreat with cozy rooms and delicious food. Mmmm! I especially liked the gardens, which make mine look like a shoebox!

It was a great weekend away that gave both Robert & me a chance to rejuvenate before the start of another busy week. I hope you too take time for yourself to relax and unwind. We all tend to work so hard to provide our families with the best and we can forget the importance of taking a holiday however short or long, however far away or close to home.

Great Times for a Great Cause!

Last night my husband and I had the honor of meeting 4 fans who won a meet & greet with us as an auction prize at a breast cancer event.

We had an amazing training session with these 4 hardcore fitness buffs & then enjoyed a delicious, clean meal.

We talked about everything from triathlons, to eating, to yoga and more.

Thanks to Laura & Richard & Diane & Dan who made for a great Thursday evening and great new friends!

Can-Fit-Pro

Can-Fit-Pro was an experience and a half! What an amazing time we all had at this one-of-a-kind weekend. On Friday my team worked hard to introduce as many people as possible to the concept of eating clean. They answered tons of questions and got a lot of people started on their way to a new, healthy lifestyle.

On Saturday we hit the ground running! My husband, Robert Kennedy, gave a very well-attended talk in the morning about making it into Oxygen magazine. Since this was Can-Fit-Pro, a majority of the attendees, were in excellent shape and are ready to take their physqiues to the pages of the magazine. He wouldn't let me hear him speak, but I heard it was great.

I spoke just after him focusing on motivation... something we all need more of! I opened with the famous quote from Alexander Graham Bell "When one door closes another opens, but we often look so long and so hard at the closed door we don't see the new ones which open for us." Later on I quoted Zig Ziglar, the motivational guru, who said "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily!" These simple mantras in your head can keep your on track to your goals, whatever they may be. Don't be afraid to start now. Make a plan and go!

After that I headed over to my booth where I signed books for 5 hours straight. Thank goodness I had my very kind team members bringing me smoothies and coffees. It was not my best clean eating day, but I so enjoy hearing all of the stories and meeting my amazing fans that I couldn't help myself.

Here are a few photos from the event. It was such a great experience & I can't wait until next year!

We had a very long line at our booth that kept me & my team busy all day!

Snapping a pic with 2 very special ladies! Thanks for coming to see me again this year.

Staying busy behind the booth in our Eat-Clean Diet t-shirts!

Getting cheeky with 2 very dedicated fans who traveled all the way from San Diego for the day! Even their husbands stopped by for a hello. Thank you!

Just a few of my teammates, and also my daughters, Rachel, Kelsey-Lynn & Chelsea, posing with me & Bob. Here's to another successful year!

Itchy to Run!

Hello Hello!

Can someone please answer this for me? How long do I have to wait to start running again? I'm itching to start up because I was making such good progress before surgery and Paris. I tried a few jogs up and down the driveway today and the girls are still tender. I wondered if I wore two tight jog bras if that would help me stay put and not cause any trouble but I don't know if things are still healing in there. My post surgery instructions tell me to go back to normal activity after 2 weeks but if anyone has a different idea please let me know.

I did lift yesterday. Bob and I do a light workout every time we return from a trip. He calls it the Two Sets for Everything workout. We just do two light sets for each body part to get back into the groove. I feel good after the workout and I think the jet lag is pretty much gone.

Okay so I need your help here. Tell me what your experience has been.
Glad to be back,
Tosca

Paris is a Memory

Hello All.

We are home. Our trip to Paris is now a memory. It's funny how you can spend the entire day travelling, basically sitting on your butt yet you feel exhausted. Bob and I rolled in the door with our entourage of luggage around 7:00 pm last night, looked at each other and headed straight for bed. We slept 13 hours. I never do that. But it was needed.

So our last day in Paris was spent wandering around in the St. Germain area visiting interesting little shops and having our last cafe at a cafe. At noon we made our way over to Kelsey's school to join her for her exhibit of what she had learned and created during her four weeks in Paris at the Parsons Fashion Illustration course. We were blown away by what we saw. I was impressed at her skills but a mother would be. Bob could give an unbiased opinion as Kelsey is not his flesh and blood though he loves her. With his artistic training he could see she had talent and was not prepared for how good her work really was. The exhibit was a success for her as was the summer course. Well done Kelsey! Well done!

After the exhibit we visited the Louvre again as Kelsey had not seen it. The highlights were of course the Mona Lisa (again, but who gets tired of seeing this masterpiece?) and the Venus de Milo. We wandered through the ancient Greek and Roman salons and then found our way to a cafe in the museum where we enjoyed a delicious dinner. From this point Kelsey would be joining her classmates for a final hurrah on the town and Bob and I were heading back to the hotel to pack and have a glass of champagne.

The morning of travel came early - at 5:00 am the alarm rang and we were up and running. I hope we get visit this gorgeous city again because we by no means saw it all. Here's to the future.

Thank you all for following along. We make great memories together don't we?
Love
Tosca
